An extraordinary Hamlet... a milestone Hamlet - Manchester Evening News Shakespeare's most iconic work, Hamlet explodes with big ideas and is the ultimate story of loyalty, love, betrayal, murder and madness. From its sell-out run at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre comes a film version of this unique and critically acclaimed production of HAMLET with BAFTA-nominee Maxine Peake in the title role. This groundbreaking stage production, directed by Sarah Frankcom, was Royal Exchange s fastest-selling show in a decade. Alongside Maxine Peake as the eponymous prince, a number of other roles, including Polonious and Rosencrantz, are also played by women. HAMLET is brought to cinemas by film director Margaret Williams, whose Written on Skin (Royal Opera House/BBC) won many awards including the Diapason d'Or. The film is produced by Anne Beresford and Debbie Gray, the team behind the highly successful cinema broadcast of Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach which Margaret also directed.

Until the Nazi era, the building, constructed as a gasometer in 1883/1884, supplied the urban street lighting. In 1940, as part of the ?Bunker Construction Programme for the Capital of the Reich?, a six-storey ?mother and child bunker? with a three-metre-thick ceiling was installed in the old gasometer. During the night-time bombing raids, it first offered a safe place to sleep to 6,500 mothers and children; later, up to 30,000 people crowded inside. In April 1945, the bunker was occupied by the Red Army. In the post-war period, it served as a reception centre for refugees and people bombed out of their homes. In the basement, there was a prison. In the 1950s, the windowless bunker was turned into a retirement home and a homeless shelter. Only in 1963, after a murder, was the ?Bunker of the Hopeless? vacated and it subsequently served as a storehouse for food reserves for West Berliners. Today, lofts have been built on the roof. The interior of the largest bunker in Berlin, which is still in its original condition, is used as an exhibition space by Berlin Underworlds. As part of the tour, not only the structure and technology of the listed building are explained. The period of bombing attacks and the tragic fate of the war refugees and the homeless are other themes which are explored ? complemented by numerous exhibits, eyewitness statements and modern projection technology. Thus, the dark history of the building comes to life on an exciting journey through time.Duration: approx. 90 minutesVenue: Fichtestraße 6, 10967 Berlin-KreuzbergFurther information:https://www.berliner-unterwelten.de/en/guided-tours/public-tours/the-fichtebunker-time-capsule.html++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The teen horror-comedy BAD GIRLS FROM VALLEY HIGH is based on the acclaimed young adult novel by Paul Fleischman entitled A FATE TOTALLY WORSE THAN DEATH. It marks the feature filmmaking debut of John Kretchmer, who directed many episodes of the similarly-toned television series CHARMED. At Valley High, three girls--Danielle, Tiffany, and Brooke--are united by their wealth, dominance over the social scene, and a dark, murderous secret. When a foreign exchange student arrives and invokes the wrath of the girls, they begin to rapidly age. Obviously distressed, the girls realise that the new girl has something to do with the murder they committed about a year ago. BAD GIRLS FROM VALLEY HIGH is a horror twist on other teen comedies like HEATHERS and MEAN GIRLS.Special Features:Interactive menu
